Uncertainty Theory-Based Structural Reliability Analysis and Design Optimization under Epistemic Uncertainty

Reliability analysis and trade-offs between safety cost with insufficient data represent an inevitable problem during the early stage of structural design. In this paper, efficient uncertainty theory-based reliability a design method are proposed under epistemic uncertainty. The factors influencing structure regarded as uncertain variables. Based on this, new metric termed measure is employed to define indicator (URI) for estimating reliable degree structure. Two solving methods, namely, crisp equivalent analytical simulation (US) method, introduced calculate URI acquire reliability. Thereafter, URI-based optimization (URBDO) model constructed target constraints. To solve URBDO obtain optimal solutions, programming genetic-algorithm combined US approach developed. Four physical examples solved verify adaptability advantage established corresponding techniques.
